I think it's the ugliest thing ever made. Why take a great-looking, great-riding bike and lower it, put plow-handle beach bars on it, remove the passing lights, remove the windshield, and remove the comfy passenger seat? They should have called it the Road King Poseur Royale.

Looked ok to me in Milwaukee but I'm an Ultra person myself. I've seen one sold so far at the local dealership. Well that's all he's got in and it sold asap.

Well...the '04 Road King Custom is not the "ugliest" thing I ever saw, in fact, I liked the cleaner and uncluttered look so much, I bought a Lava Red Sunglo about a month ago. Since then, compliments on its appearance have confirmed my taste.
The bike handles well and the fuel injection sure beats the carburated Harleys in my past. I like all aspects of the bike, even the "plow-handle beach bars". I will admit, the bar's width does create a lot of vibration at idle since they extend to far out from centerline. The saddle bags work well, except I preferred the look of my studded leather bags on my previous bikes.
Therefore...I respect your use of the word ugly, but I believe the bike is nicer looking than my previous Dynas and Softails. Some people actually think, repectfully, the Kawasaki Vulcan is good looking...go figure?

Zabatt, I'm sure that Lava Red bike looks tasty... you could throw a nice, deep H-D paint job on a mangled block of metal and I'd buy it.

I agree that the cleaner front fender looks better; that's one of the reasons I like the Road Glide.

Enjoy your bike!

I think that the new road king custom is the sweetest looking bike harley has come out with in a long time. The wheels are very sharp and will be easy to maintain. It is a bad ass looking machine.

A good friend of mine just ordered a gold Road King Custom, so obviously people like it.

I stopped by the local dealer to see what they looked like, and I don't like it at all. Different strokes...

I saw the gold one at a local dealer... still don't like it. I bet it would be cool in red or black, though. Maybe I just don't like that Buick-lookin' gold.

i agree, taste could not have been a factor in the design of the road king custom. but i must admit, from a comfort standpoint, the beach bars feel like they would be a great improvement on long trips. i switched the bars on my road king classic to heritage bars soon after i bought it, but i may switch to these beach bars before spring riding season. other than that, i think its just a stripped down version of an otherwise beautiful bike. to each his own, but i doubt youll find me riding one
